FILMSTR allows users to purchase movie tickets, earn rewards, and order snacks ahead of time.
The Problem
Nothing is worse for a movie-goer than missing a part of the movie due to a long line at the snack bar.
The Goal
Design an app that allows users to easily order snacks ahead of time.
Responsibilities
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
User Research
Summary
I began with competitor analysis, immersing myself in various user flows for movie ticket purchases. This ensured my product aligns with market expectations. Next, I delved into user needs through interviews and empathy maps. User personas followed, allowing me to design with genuine empathy for their shoes. Finally, user journey maps mapped their emotional journey throughout the movie-going experience.
Pain Points:
Lack of access to a diverse range of mentors in different industries.
Difficulty finding a mentor who is a good fit for their needs and goals.
Inability to easily communicate and collaborate with mentors, leading to ineffective mentoring relationships.
Paper Wireframes
Sketching wireframes allows me to quickly and easily generate multiple design ideas and iterate on them to create layouts that are tailored to the needs of my end-users.
This saves me time and effort and enables me to explore a wide range of possibilities before settling on a final design.
Digital Wireframes
Usability Study
Summary
I conducted a moderated in person study with 3 of my family members, and 3 of my close friends.
Findings:
Users need more options to filter through mentors
Users need better clues for what steps to take when booking a mentor
Users should be able to schedule mentorship sessions.
Hi-FI Mobile Prototype
The high-fidelity prototype features a revised design that includes images, color, and new features. This updated design is more visually appealing and engaging, and better reflects the intended user experience.
